My earliest memories of art are painting Disney characters as a child. My first art class at high school was to paint a portrait of a school friend, mine was exhibited in the local library, and mentioned as a highlight in the newspaper. My earliest memories of art are painting Disney characters as a child. My first art class at high school was to paint a portrait of a school friend, mine was exhibited in the local library, and mentioned as a highlight in the newspaper. After drawing the portrait above for my nationwide exams at 16 I gave up Art for Maths and Science, and only started painting seriously again a mere 42 years later!

I use many different mediums, such as pastels, acrylics, charcoal, oils, and print. I like the opportunities and challenges each medium offers to express myself. There is always something to learn about myself, my art and life with each painting.

I am inspired by beauty in the world, from the table to the story of a face to the skies and nature around me. I paint to express the joy in what I see. I love to paint a face with a smile, the subject comes to life under my hand and inhabits my studio whilst I share their happiness.
