Born 1960 UK and emigrated to Western Australia in 1982 after completing my university studies. Now living in the Noosa Hinterlands at Federal having relocated from Willetton, Western Australia in August 2024.

I paint at home in my huge garage converted to an Art studio; I am currently a hobbyist artist having only taken up painting in Jan 2019 after a break of 42 years.

I have extensive training from completing many in person and online workshops and classes over the last 6 years with renowned Artists in Australia and worldwide including Jocelyn Gregson, Jo Darvall, Bridget Seaton, Alain Picard, Les Darlow, Jana Vodesil-Baruffi, Desiree Crossing, Melissa Clements, Ian Fennelly, Andy Quilty and many more.

• 1972:      Portrait exhibited at a school exhibition, highlighted in the local  newspaper

• NOTE 2021-2023:    after hand surgery I injured my shoulder and after 18 months of poor capacity I had right shoulder surgery which was another 12 months recovery

My love is portraits – people, birds, animals – I love seeing my subject come to life on my canvas with each stroke of paint. I also love to paint nature around me from my own photos that I am inspired to take. I do undertake commissions.

I live with chronic pain and poor sleep but painting gives me something to get out of bed for which I do most days in the quiet hours of the morning – around 3.30am after retiring to bed by 7.30pm

I often alternate between acrylics, soft pastels, and ink and watercolours, I experiment and challenge my art and myself, the many classes and workshops helping me to learn how to think about my creative process and to find my style. I enjoy using different media and different subjects and methods as it helps me think outside the box, to take new paths, and this way the painting becomes a journey of adventure. 

Art imitates life imitates art!

I also enjoy teaching one on one – sharing my passion – I believe that we all can paint because for me a painting is an expression of feelings not a photorealism.
